Online shop implementation

My clients at The Farm Shed East Coast Wine Centre have always planned to extend their retail offering of wines from Tasmania’s East Coast wine region and selected Tasmanian whiskies and gins into an online shop.

After a couple of false starts with specialised providers, they asked me to set up their store, as I’d done their website. Online retail is not an area I’d had any experience in, but I set about researching the options and am delighted to report that the store has now gone live.

It uses the Woocommerce platform, which integrates easily with the WordPress platform on which the website is built, with payments via the PayPal platform. Customised shipping zones have been set up to reflect a pared down version of Australia Post’s shipping zones. Around 90 products have been set up, mostly single bottles which can be ordered on a mix-and-match basis, but they also offer special six packs offering good discounts.

It’s a good match for their real-world store, which largely serves people visiting the East Coast town of Bicheno. Now, when they’ve finished their wines and spirits, they can hop online and order replenishment for their cellars.
